This grand piano belongs to an advanced amateur player who felt that the instrument was not able to express what he wanted. The piano was holding him back from further growth. It has been fitted with new hammers and shanks, and the keys have been equipped with new felt. Using Precision Touch Design, the piano has been properly balanced. The pianist can now continue to make progress.
The tuner suspected there might be an issue with the mechanic of the piano and suggested a technical analysis. It turned out that during a previous revision, which took place before I acquired the piano, weights had been added to the keys, compensated by an extra spring. Additionally, unnecessary friction was identified, and the sound was quite harsh.
Within a month, the entire mechanic was overhauled, and it was reinstalled and adjusted within a few days. The sound has significantly improved, and the mechanic has become much faster, lighter, and more consistent.
Only then did I realize that the piano had been holding me back before the revision. Pieces I have played for a long time now need to be re-studied because I can [essentially] play them much better than before. Where I had previously given up on playing Bach because it didn’t feel right on the piano, I have now started again.
