Wien,16 Novmber 2024: Joachim shows for the KVO (Klaviermacher-Vereinigung Österreich) how to work with "Precision-Touch-Design"
New corporate identity and website
Since October 2024, we, Joachim and Rani, have launched our joint website. We have been working together from a shared workshop since 2019, and this collaboration has now culminated in our fantastic new website. We would like to extend our gratitude to Julius Smit for building the site, Tjapko for the photography, and Geertje van Emmerik for guiding this project.
Recent Work: Theater Schiedam
In August, we had the privilege of servicing the two grand pianos at Theater Schiedam, a concert and theater venue with a capacity of 800. The theater features a Yamaha CFIII (275 cm) and a Feurich (190 cm) grand piano. During the summer months, when the instruments are used less frequently, we were able to provide them with essential maintenance.
Regulation Table for Precision and Cost Savings
Regulation of the action is a meticulous process that requires significant time, especially when the grand piano isn’t brought to the workshop. Adjustments such as the string height and hammer alignment need to be repeatedly fine-tuned and checked, making this a time-consuming aspect of any restoration.
To improve efficiency and accuracy when working on detached grand piano actions, Joachim has developed a regulation table. This innovation allows us to perform the regulating process more precisely and quickly, ultimately benefiting our clients.

Present were Jos de Ling, a valued colleague piano technician with whom we share the Piano Atelier, Joachim Stepanik, Rani van Emmerik, and violin maker Willem Bouman. We discussed the professions of piano tuning and violin making, how one becomes a professional in these fields, and the economic aspects involved.
The photographer Ayuna visits Piano Atelier
The photographer Ayuna captured beautiful photos of us and the instruments in our Piano Atelier. Ayuna is studying photography at the Fotovakschool NAVB. As a talented pianist herself, she wanted to create photos of the instruments and their mechanics for her final project. We received stunning photos from her.
