In 2018 we, Joachim and Rani, got to know each other at a meeting for piano technicians in piano shop Maene in Belgium. At the time, Joachim was working as a voicing specialist for the Steinway factory in Hamburg and Rani was a self-employed piano technician and tuner in The Hague. The love for the profession brought us together. For several years now, we have been working together in a piano workshop in The Hague and we combine our knowledge and experience to get the optimal sound out of every instrument. We work with a lot of attention to the customer and the instrument.
Rani van Emmerik
After studying Piano Technique in Amsterdam, Rani worked for several years at Ypma in Alkmaar, the Dutch representative of Steinway. Through this company, she had the opportunity to tune pianos in prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw, the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ and the Doelen, for artists such as Arthur and Lucas Jussen and Wibi Soerjadi. Since 2007 Rani has been active as an independent piano tuner and technician.
Joachim Stepanik
Joachim learned the trade of piano technician from his father, a renowned piano builder and owner of Hansmann Pianos in Germany. After his training, he worked for five years at the Pfeiffer piano factory in Stuttgart, where he specialized in regulating mechanics. Subsequently, he tuned instruments for top musicians such as Lang Lang and Daniel Barenboim at the prominent piano stores Pianozaak Fisher (Fazioli representative) and Matthaes (Steinway representative). At the Steinway factory in Hamburg he continued to develop as an voicing specialist.
Since 2020, Joachim and Rani have been running a workshop together where they carry out both minor and major repairs of pianos and grand pianos. After a thorough analysis of the instrument and extensive consultation, they draw up a plan based on their knowledge and experience.
